  • Hardwired EVSE typically needs a dedicated circuit and disconnect path — slightly higher labor than a NEMA 14-50 receptacle.
  • Medium run length is a common mid-market scenario for garage installs.

Market-anchored bands

Midpoints track public 2026 guides (EnergySage / Qmerit-class install-before-equipment ranges of roughly $800–$3,000, plus hardware stubs). We show ranges, not fake precision.

Drivers you control

Amp path, plug-in vs hardwired, run length, difficulty, and panel capacity all move the mid and widen the high band when capacity is uncertain or an upgrade/EMS path is likely.

Incentives with guardrails

Section 30C (federal EV charger credit) is $0 unless you opt in for placed-in-service on/before June 30, 2026 — most new installs after that date get $0. Panel “likely upgrade” raises the planning range and routes you to a quote CTA — we do not invent one upgrade price.

Assumptions

  • Labor midpoints follow run length × difficulty tables; permit uses a national heuristic band.
  • Hardware uses amp-tier stubs unless you override the price.
  • ZIP is collected for later local labor — today's estimate uses national bands plus state (if selected).
  • Payback is install payback vs gasoline (and optionally vs public charging), assuming you already drive or will drive an EV — not vehicle payback.
  • Tax credits and rebates have eligibility rules; Clearlane is not tax or electrical advice.
